For some pet loss may be sudden.
This can be an incredibly challenging time,
particularly if the loss of your pet is unexpected.
Often pet owners are left asking themselves,
what should i do if my pet dies at home?
If your pet were to pass away at home.
We recommend the following steps especially if it was
late in the night and you aren’t able to take them to the vets:
Gently wrap your pet in a soft towel or blanket.
Feel free to place them in their bed and make them comfortable,
if you wish to do so, place their favourite toys with them.
Try to keep them in a cool place, such as a bathroom with a tiled floor,
until you’re ready to take further action.
Remember to raise their head slightly.
Contact us and we can arrange collection and bring your pet into our care
at a suitable time, or you can bring them to us.
For some families they have wished to use our Farewell room to say their
final goodbye after taking their pet on their final journey.
Contact your veterinary practice to inform them of your pets passing.
You may also wish to think of how you would like to memorialise your pet.
With each of our cremations we offer a complimentary fur clipping.
Others have opted for other keepsakes such as paw prints and requested ashes
to be separated for memorial jewellery.
